BAKERSFIELD – Beginning October 20, Kern County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (KernBHRS) will expand adult screening and assessment services to multiple, convenient locations throughout Bakersfield. Previously, these critical services were only available at the Mary K. Shell Access and Assessment Center.

The new locations include:

  • North: Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance Clinic – 661 Roberts Lane (Suite A)
  • Northeast: Northeast Recovery and Wellness Center – 3715 Columbus Street
  • Southeast: Southeast Recovery and Wellness Center – 1600 East Belle Terrace
  • South: Clinica Sierra Vista – 3117 Wilson Road
  • West: West Recovery and Wellness Center – 5121 Stockdale Highway (Suite #275)
  • Central: Clarvida – 2821 H Street

Limited screening and assessment services will also continue to be available at the Mary K. Shell Access and Assessment Center (2151 College Avenue).

Individuals residing outside of Bakersfield can continue to access services at locations within their geographic area, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Kern County.

“This expansion reflects our commitment to making behavioral health services more accessible and responsive to the needs of our community,” said Alison Burrowes, Behavioral Health Director. “By offering multiple locations for screening and assessment, we reduce barriers to care and help individuals take the crucial first step towards recovery.”

Access and assessment services are the first step to getting treatment in the KernBHRS System of Care. After an assessment is completed, a person’s specific behavioral health needs will be determined. They will then be connected to the appropriate treatment provider, as well as any beneficial community resources.

For more information about how to access services, call the mental health access line at 1-(800)-991-5272.
