On Tuesday, April 29, May 2025 was officially proclaimed Mental Health Awareness Month at the Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting. KernBHRS staff and administration were in attendance, as we heard Director Alison Burrowes speak on the importance of Mental Health Awareness Month in Kern County, while MHSA Program Supervisor Mark Kimmel previewed the
May calendar of events.
This year's theme is "Be Kind to Your Mind," a reminder to treat yourself with love, forgiveness, and self-care. We hope this year's theme can serve as inspiration to be kind to your mind and remember that you're never alone. View our website or feel free to attend several of our community outreach events to learn about the resources KernBHRS has available for you.
